April 20 - May 3
We went down to take possession and furnish the house. It is amazing how much larger it looked when it is empty. We spent the next few days cleaning before purchasing any furniture. We bought a carpet shampooer and washed everywhere in the entire house - it made a difference even though the previous owner had just had "professional cleaners" in. It is a good thing that we bought her patio furniture and bed from her as we had to wait almost a week for our new furniture to arrive. We also bought her T.V./ C.D./D.V.D. and "sound system" from her for $300. I thought for that price it would make do until we could buy something next fall when we had time. Imagine my suprise when her "sound system" consists of four 6x12 inch Polk speakers hidden in the walls, a Sony tweeter and seperate Bass speaker for total surround sound powered by a Sony home theater amp. She had so much furniture and stuff in front of it we did'nt even notice it when we bought it. The 90 year old Great Gram was a closet rocker. If you think we were confused by the three remote controls at the lake just imagine when we discovered we now have TEN. (see picture) Should have it all figured out in 2019. It is amazing how much you have to buy to fill the kitchen - all of a sudden things you take for granted aren't there. As I now have a Top 50 all time favorite cacti, succulents, aloe and yuccas I realized I won't have enough space so I have started to build a retaining wall so I can expand the space for plants on the side of the hill. Despite starting to move a ton of boulders my back really didn't bother me - however when you drop a large boulder on your thumb you do tend to use bad language. Construction of THE GREAT WALL OF HARASYMCHUK will continue in Oct. Help Wanted. See next post for pictures of furniture.

We went for a walk in Gold Canyon, Arizona and ended up buying a house. Gold Canyon is located in the hills below the Superstition Mountains (reputed to be the home of the legendary Lost Dutchman Gold Mine). Our home is located in Mountainbrook Village,
a 55+ community of 1700 homes. It has 2 pools, spa,exercise rooms, clubhouse, amphitheatre, library, billiard room, tennis courts, golf course, ceramics and pottery rooms and too many activities to mention. ( Check out their website at Mountainbrook Village.org)
It is 3 bedroom with 2 full baths. It was built in 1994 however the lady that owned it just spent a ton of money updating and decorating it in 2010. The real estate agent took us to it the first morning it was listed with the line "It has a muti million dollar view" RIGHT!!!! Like I am going to believe her .Imagine my suprise - a real estate agent that doesnt lie. We are at the top of a high hill - the land behind us is controlled by the Enviromental Protection Agency so nothing can ever be built there. From the extended patio you can see mountain ranges with all kinds of wildlife (deer, quail, hundreds of little rabbits, roadrunners, (Willy E. Coyotes), doves, cardinals, wild pigs, hawks and all kinds of birds that I don't know what they are. The patio has a built in BBQ, fountain, and fireplace - that is where you can find me. There are stairs that lead down to the desert for a nice long walk.
